Update 11 - 2 Player Playtesting and Ad Plan

Hi everyone! It’s been a little while since my last update, sorry for the quiet stretch. There’s been plenty happening behind the scenes with Lapidary Legends, and I wanted to share what we’ve been working on.

Playtesting

  • We’re still playtesting and finding ways to make Lapidary Legends better. Lately, we’ve been focusing on two-player games. Some helpful feedback pointed out that they felt a little too quick, leaving players wanting more time to work on their gems during the cut phase. So we’ve been trying a small change to the two-player rules:

    • During the buy phase, we deal six cards, and each player can buy twice or refuse twice. That opens up some fun choices: do you refuse first to get two cards for free, knowing your opponent might buy the cards you’re hoping for? Refuse too early, and they could buy both before you get the chance. You can also refuse twice and get three cards for free.

    • One card will always be left over and discarded, so you’re also thinking about what to leave behind, and whether you can nudge your opponent into taking a card they don’t really want.

  • Honestly, this is becoming my favorite way to play. There’s more back-and-forth as you watch what the other player is doing, and your buying decisions really affect each other’s chances of cutting the gem you want.

Kickstarter Plan

  • We’re still working on getting pre-production copies ready to send to reviewers. There are a lot of little pieces to pull together when you’re a small shop!

  • We’re also figuring out the advertising side: what the ads will look like, when to run them, and for how long.

    • Right now, we’re looking at starting ads in December.

  • The plan is still to have the Kickstarter pre-launch in February and launch the campaign in March.

  • The website is getting some attention, too. We’re making it easier to explore Lapidary Legends and sign up for these updates.

    • Keep an eye out for a fresh look soon!
